Beautiful Brixham can get the creative juices flowing is so many ways. Local poet Gary Wickson has taken inspiration from our wonderful environment and penned a poem, all about Brixham.
The pretty town of Brixham beneath the setting sun, Steeped in so much history and now the pirates gun. Harbour looks so tranquil Devon ice cream in a dish, The chug of little trawlers in search of shoals of fish. The church bells peel to the tune abide with me, Protected by the breakwater from horrors of the sea. Sea gulls circle calling in the clear blue Brixham sky, Watching folk eat fish and chips with one beady eye. Old fishing boats bobbing decked with sails of red, Scones with jam and clotted cream keeping folk well fed. Sunlight dancing on the water kids with crabbing lines, Bars hustle and a bustle with good beer and finest wines. The golden hind in full sail as visitors climb aboard, Children squeal with laughter as they Wield a pirate sword. My true love comes from Brixham a Brixham girl is she, The prettiest place in England is the only home for me. By Gary Wickson
